Game #3 vs The Oasis

Well tonight The Believers were short players but not short of energy or heart. With five regulars out of the lineup, each member had to pick up their game and so they did.Flyin Ryan Hollett led the way with an impressive performance picking up 3 goals while Matt Stark had another solid game scoring the final goal in the 4-4 tie.The Believers spent too much time in the penalty box,as the Oasis were 1 for 5 on the PP.Although the game got a little chippy, communication lines stayed open, and cooler heads prevailed. The solid D of Scott Hesse, and especially Ken Dame kept the shots down and cleared the rebounds for Goaltender Dave Skead, who had an extremely great game. His strong positional play and quick glove robbed the Oasis of 3 or 4 sure goals.A special thanx to Larry Bedard ,the teams future full time coach, for positive feedback, encouraging words, and obvious great knowledge of the game. Also thanx to cameraman Bob Ennis who began work on the movie, which will be released at a later date.Unfortunately Bryce Hamre had to leave the game early with an ankle injury. We hope and pray that it is nothing too serious, and look forward to the Hamre Bros ready for our next game March 7 vs New Life Baptist at 8:30 in Lake Cowichan.Great effort Boyz !! I have to agree with Mart about Ken, his play was integral to our game.
The footspeed of the Oasis was dangerous, especially upfront, but proved to be no problem for the veteran blue liner. Every time a rush came down on his side, Ken closed the gap and calmly poked the puck from the offender with a good stick. His offence may be over shadowed by his monster d-game but it is worth mentioning his four or five quality, on net, wristers from the top of the circles. Aspiring D-Men stand to learn alot from Ken's puck movement and quarter backing ability. Just ask Bryan, or any other left winger, about how simple the breakout was with Ken moving the puck up his side.

Ken Dame, my pick for star of the Game.
