Momentum for the Believers
After a very lack luster performance last week, the Believers needed to gain some confidence, and that is exactly what happened tonight against the ET Talons in Nanaimo.
The team played hockey the way it is meant to be played. All 13 players took short shifts, passed
continually, and flowed like a well oiled machine.
Matt Foster and Greg Hess worked great together scoring 3 goals each with Darrin Rae feeding the speedsters.
Wes and Mitch fed Rick Hornett like clockwork as Rick scored his first hat trick of the season, with Mitch getting a couple of tallies himself.
The Sonia, Marty and John line played solid and had a great fore check going all night. John Close scored a beautiful goal on a breakaway.
The defence pairings of Darren and Derek, and Ed and Matt Stark kept the fast ET skaters to the outside and kept the puck in the offensive zone continually.Darren notched another beautiful goal on his patented wrist shot. Paul Brown didn't have as much work as many nights, but made pivotal saves, especially early in the game to keep the momentum in the B's favour.
The focus now shifts to next Saturday night when the always dangerous CRC Kings are visiting the Believers on Saturday, Dec 19 at 8:40 at Fuller Lake Arena.
If the team stays healthy and continues to play with the same intensity and skill level that we exemplified tonight a long winning streak is possible.
