Game #2 vs New Life Baptist
Tonight the Believers lost. The team game was non-existent,the shifts were way too long, individualism, lack of discipline, and poor positional play resulted in the teams first loss of the season.
The New Life team had 4 less players, teenagers and a female. They played a team game and deserved the 4-3 win.Sean Roberts played great and Sean Pogue kept the Believers in the game during a second period collapse.
On the bright side ,Ryan Hollett played great defensively, scoring twice and also defenceman Ed Busch shot a laser past the screened N.L. Goalie.Darrin Rae left the game early with an ankle injury. We hope this is only a slight sprain and he's back playing hop-scotch tomorrow.
Learning lessons early in the season can be very beneficial, especially in the team's tough sophmore season. The Believers next ice time is Sunday Oct 15 at 9:30 pm at Fuller Lake.Onwards and Upwards Team !!

As fun as it is to win, it is necesary to lose occasionly.
This last week I have been thinking often about the loss and talking with other team-mates about the reasons for it. It is not very often that I take the time to reflect on a win. I don't spend time imagining ways to improve my play in front of our net or how to create more scoring chances in the offensive zone when we have handily taken care of the other team. Heck, I can't even remember the details of the goals that I score... but I do remember the ones that go in on my goalie while I am defending.
The game on saturday was frustrating but a good lesson; we poured everything we had as individuals out on the ice but still came up short. This is the reason we are 'Believers'.
