Game #13 vs The Christian Reformed Church

Tonight the Believers tied The CRC team in the second half, but got clobbered in the first half to lose 10-5 overall. The CRC team played well in both ends of the rink to be the better team tonight. The believers showed great character by persevering and not reacting to some chippiness from the other team.
Matt had a strong game tonight with 2 goals and some iron as well.Dennis Nadon used his patented wrist shot to also score twice.Marty finished off the scoring by picking up his own rebound off a smooth Papa Hollett pass.Scott Hesse earned the hardhat tonight with a very steady defensive game and chipping in 2 assists.Eddy Busch showed great wheels all night chasing down loose pucks.Pauly played well in net, this his 3'rd game ever and showed he is a great rising star of the future.Ryan once again gave it everything he's got and showed his great leadership ability on and off the ice.We have 3 more games against the CRC team this year. They are a good team but when we play our best,we are unbeatable !

i thought we would have started out better if i wasnt on the ice for the first bit cause i thought it was my fault on the first 3 goals. but im glad to see the team ended the game really well. and i totally agree with scott getting the hat. its good to see that the team sees him as a really important part of the team

I don't see how you not being on the ice would have helped our game, Ed. I was dog-tired with four fleet-footed defenders-- I can only imagine what it would have been like with three. That team is FAST. I was trying to remember how many times i was caught up ice last night and had to hustle HARD back to try and check an opposing player as he closed in on Paul.

Usually I can get away with that 'pinching in' stuff and can rely on my wheels to get me back into the play. Unfortunately when you are back by a few goals you have to take those offensive chances as a D-man. If your instincts tell you that you got the "green light" than you join the play. Our forwards, Doug especially, did a great job of covering my point when I pinched deep into the offensive zone and that is all you can ask for.

It is an adjustment for those fast defencemen, like yourself Ed, when you play a game in which you are not the fastest player on the ice-- in our league it does not happen too often but when it does happen the adjustment needs to be made.

You have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to your game. You have consistantly improved as a player both offensively and defensively. Your confidence with the puck is exhilerating and inspirational to watch -- especially when you are the last man back and you give the forechecker a little "hows-she-goin" at the blueline to hold the zone, very sweet. Combine this confidence with the fact that you possess the most natural and dangerous wrist-shot on the team (honourable mentions to Matt and Dennis) and you are, without a doubt, an extremely valuable asset any team would gladly have.

Our TEAM can not compete at as HIGH a LEVEL as we have been without YOU on the BLUELINE.
