Breaking News !! Broken Leg !!

The first major injury of the year happened Sunday night,February 26th when winger Bryce Hamre left the game with a lower leg injury. It was later realized he had a broken tibia. The 'spiral fracture' was a result of a collision with an Oasis team member late in the opening period. This injury will keep Bryce sidelined for 6-8 weeks. The Believers will miss Bryces' positive attitude and great work ethic during his layoff. The team wishes Bryce a speedy recovery and hopes he can come help with future games from the bench. Game #3 vs The Oasis

Well tonight The Believers were short players but not short of energy or heart. With five regulars out of the lineup, each member had to pick up their game and so they did.Flyin Ryan Hollett led the way with an impressive performance picking up 3 goals while Matt Stark had another solid game scoring the final goal in the 4-4 tie.The Believers spent too much time in the penalty box,as the Oasis were 1 for 5 on the PP.Although the game got a little chippy, communication lines stayed open, and cooler heads prevailed. The solid D of Scott Hesse, and especially Ken Dame kept the shots down and cleared the rebounds for Goaltender Dave Skead, who had an extremely great game. His strong positional play and quick glove robbed the Oasis of 3 or 4 sure goals.A special thanx to Larry Bedard ,the teams future full time coach, for positive feedback, encouraging words, and obvious great knowledge of the game. Also thanx to cameraman Bob Ennis who began work on the movie, which will be released at a later date.Unfortunately Bryce Hamre had to leave the game early with an ankle injury. We hope and pray that it is nothing too serious, and look forward to the Hamre Bros ready for our next game March 7 vs New Life Baptist at 8:30 in Lake Cowichan.Great effort Boyz !! Game # 2 vs Christian Reformed Church

The Believers' Hockey Team had it's hands full against CRC on Saturday, February 12th in Lake Cowichan. The team lost 5 - 1 to the CRC. CRC came out flying out of the gate and jumped to an early 2 - 0 lead. Although outchanced, the Believers kept battling but couldn't put the puck behind the hot CRC goal tender. Sean Pogue kept the Believers in the game with at least 15 unbelievable saves. A slow whistle caused 2 of CRC's goals as the puck was dug out of Sean's pads. Dr Dave Welch was the lone goal scorer for the Believers as he was able to walk in and roof the puck past the screened CRC goalie. The team is looking forward to a much anticipated rematch on March 28th. The next game slated for the Believers is against the Oasis, Sunday, February 26th, at 7 pm, in Lake Cowichan.

First Game

Our inaugural game was on January 22nd against the Oasis Church of Duncan. We were slow out of the gate but we soon found our stride. With great teamwork, hustle, and great goals by sniper Matt Stark, speedy Nathan Hollett, and the always smooth Greg Hollett we turned a 3 to 1 deficit into a 5 to 4 win. Our next game is in Lake Cowichan on Saturday February 11th, 9:30 PM against the skilled Reform Church of Duncan. Team members meet at Calvary Baptist Church at 8:00 PM prior to the game. We hope to have another great turnout of Believers supporters for our second game so hope to see you, your families and friends there!
