Game # 15 vs E.T. of Nanaimo

On January 28 Tiger had his "A" game, the Believers did not. With four regulars out of the lineup, the B's would have to play great to beat a motivated team like E.T.
That didn't happen and the Evangelistic Tabernacle Talons won 8-2. On the bright side, E.T. were the honoured guests and the B's were pleased to see them happy on their trip back to Nanaimo.
Scott Carruthers and Paul Brown bulged the twine with Matt and Ryan earning assists.
Ken Dame played great earning the Team hardhat with positioning, great passing and a wonderful work ethic (as usual).Sean Pogue played good as he faced a barrage of shots all night long.Although the team was a little out of cink tonight, it was still a most enjoyable time. We know that good teams bounce back from a poor game with a great performance. The Believers will have to. Their next game is against the CRC Kings, the team that embarassed them last month.

Game # 14 vs The Oasis

The Believers put their game into overdrive tonight making last night's game only a distant memory.Sean Pogue led the way tonight by making key saves early to help the B's defeat the Oasis Church 14-3.The B's scored four short-handed goals which is a team record.Dennis had a superb game scoring 5,and assisting on one.Ryan's scoring prowess returned tonight with a pair of goals and 5 helpers. Papa Hollett looked like Joe Thornton contributing 4 assists. The Believer newcomer defensive duo of Scott Carruthers and Dan Gillard played very solid with Dan popping in 2 goals himself.
Matt Stark played end to end to end to end as usual keeping his composure all night long in spite of continuous hacks and trips. He earned the team Hardhat with another fantastic game. This team would not be the same without his remarkable talent, fitness and work ethic!
The teams next scheduled game is two weeks away vs CRC.Please check your email's this week in case a game becomes available.

Game #13 vs The Christian Reformed Church

Tonight the Believers tied The CRC team in the second half, but got clobbered in the first half to lose 10-5 overall. The CRC team played well in both ends of the rink to be the better team tonight. The believers showed great character by persevering and not reacting to some chippiness from the other team.
Matt had a strong game tonight with 2 goals and some iron as well.Dennis Nadon used his patented wrist shot to also score twice.Marty finished off the scoring by picking up his own rebound off a smooth Papa Hollett pass.Scott Hesse earned the hardhat tonight with a very steady defensive game and chipping in 2 assists.Eddy Busch showed great wheels all night chasing down loose pucks.Pauly played well in net, this his 3'rd game ever and showed he is a great rising star of the future.Ryan once again gave it everything he's got and showed his great leadership ability on and off the ice.We have 3 more games against the CRC team this year. They are a good team but when we play our best,we are unbeatable !

Game # 12 vs New Life Baptist

There was no shortage of 'get up and go ' with the Believers game tonight.Except for a late game surge by the New Life team, the B's dominated tonights contest. The Believers won 10-8. The whole team contributed as many players had multi point games.Greg-5 points, Darrin and Matt 4 points;Ed, Marty and Nate 3 points, while the defence played strong with 9 points in total. The last line of defence, that being Paul Brown looked like a seasoned veteran making key saves of the enormous variety. Darrin Rae earned the hardhat with a gritty 1 goal, 3 assist evening. When the Believers play a real team game , with short shifts and responsible defensive play, we can match any team out there. Bring It On !

Game # 11 vs Crofton Fire

The Believers managed to beat the new and improved Crofton Fire Hall tonight. The final score was 6-4 but that wasn't indicative of the game. The B's outshot the CFH team by a huge margin ,but goalie and team leader Darryl Park stood on his head to keep the game close.Nathan had a strong game with 3 goals,Dennis 2,while Matt and Greg each tallied once.Sean Pogue's job was difficult as he didn't get enough work to stay warm, but was focussed to make the big save on some late odd man rushes.

This is the only team that the Believers play outside of the local Christian community. The team represents "believers" from 3 different churches.Unfortunatly tonight ,the only sign of the teams mandate was the teams name and nothing else.I would hope that in the future other secular teams would say "theres something different about that team ".There are about 20,000 beer leagues in North America, and if we show the selflessness we did tonight,we'll blend in just fine.Feel free to make your comments if you disagree with any of this.

The teams next game is against the New Life Team ,Sat night, Jan. 13 at 9:00 pm at Lake Cowichan.
