Final Game vsThe Talons( Evangelistic Tabernacle (game # 14)

Hanging in There. That's what the the short-benched Believers did Friday night in Nanaimo. Two late goals from Dennis Nadon, set up by Ryan Hollett gave the B's a come from behind win.The 3-2 win gives the Believers an impressive 10-3-1 record for it's inaugural season. The B's jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Paul Brown who was positioned for a quick rebound shot past the ET goaltender. The Nate Hollett/Naden/Brown line was on the ice for all three B's goals. The ET team showed great energy and speed all night yet the B's found yet another way to come out on top.The defence of Ryan Hollett/Matt Stark and Ed Busch skated miles in front of the always solid Sean Pogue. This defensive battle was full of scoring chances yet there were very few odd man rushes.Dennis Nadon was tonight's first star as he managed to find the back of the net when it counted. The work ethic, defensive zone coverage and patience made the difference in tonight's game.Way to wait for opportunities Boyz !Cap't Mart.

Game # 11 vs The Oasis

Teamwork and speed. A real group effort was exhibited tonight as the Believers defeated the Oasis 8-3 in their fourth and final encounter of the season. The B's were 3-0-1 in the four game series.
The centers were sizzling as Nate Hollett scored twice and Matt Stark got a hat-trick in this entertaining game.Dave Welch ,Ryan and Greg Hollett rounded off the scoring and Dennis Nadon added four helpers. The D-men Ryan,Jonathon,Ed and Dennis played smart hockey as they didn't allow the Oasis any sustained pressure in and around Dave Skead ,who was solid in net.
A group pre-game prayer set the mood for the finesse filled but clean affair.Any tension was talked about, and this communication allowed for cooler heads to prevail.
The Believers play CRC on saturday, April 22 at 9:00 pm ,then New Life tuesday April 25 at 8:00,both games at Lake Cowichan. The final game of the regular season is against ET on friday April 28 at 7:45 at The Cliff NacNab Rink in Nanaimo.Thanx to the wives and girlfriends who allow their men to be big kids. You help make Believers Hockey possible !!
Great Game Boyz. Cap't Mart

Game #10 vs Glad Tidings of Victoria

The Believer's showed that youth and speed can be matched by attitude and teamwork.Although Glad Tidings won the game 7-5,the B's were in it the whole game.Sean Pogue robbed GT of 3 or 4 sure goals early in the game.At 4 minutes into the 1'st a nice pass from Darrin Rae gave Marty Olsen a clear cut breakaway, and Mart made no mistake snapping the puck through the goaltender's legs.54 seconds later,Marty scored again on a rebound off a Greg Hollett shot. The score see-sawed back and forth and with 2 goals by Dennis Nadon and one by Darrin, the B's had a 5-4 lead after 2 periods.Sean frustrated GT as he stopped a barrage of odd man rushes ,never flinching while they peppered him continually. He alone kept the B's in the game.

Glad Tidings scored 4 unanswered goals in the 3'rd for the win.The young legs of the Victoria team proved too much for the B's .Maturity and discipline were exhibited througout the game,as some chippy play was evident. We can all be proud of the effort today of all 13 Believer's team members.

It is an honour to wear the "C" for this classy bunch of guys ! Way to give it your all Boyz ! Cap't Mart

Game #9 vs. Courtenay Baptist

What a game! The Believers had to work extra hard as a team in today's matinee for the 7 - 6 win. With Matt Stark and Ryan Hollett out of the lineup; Greg Hollett's leadership and Sean Roberts awesome goaltending made this win possible.

The dreaded Dave Welch/Dennis Nadon combo scored twice in the 1st 3-1/2 minutes! After goals by Greg and Dave, the B's had a 4 - 3 lead. The Courtenay team turned it up a notch and took a 5 - 4 lead. Ed Busch pinched late in the 2nd period and Marty scored the rebound goal off his shot. Greg scored his 2nd to regain the 6 - 5 lead. Ken Dame streaked down the left wing, and smoked a wrister high glove-side past the CB goalie. The CB team scored once more to make it close, but Ken Dame's goal proved to be the game winner. Bryan Hamre exhibited great energy today as he picked up 2 assists. Special thanks to Sean Roberts who filled in for the absent B's goaltenders - his countless saves of the enormous variety made him the 1st star of today's game.

Great team effort Boyz!!
