Game #4 vs C.R.C.

Tonight the Believers had a hard fought battle against The Duncan Christian Reformed Church.Although the B's had an edge in possession time, and power plays, the bounces didn't go their way,and had to settle for a 3-3 tie.

Twenty minutes into the game, Greg slipped a trickle pass from behind the CRC's goal to Marty in the slot.Mart snapped the puck behind the surprised goalie.Later,Nathan wristed a low shot that beat the goaltender glove side. The B's final goal was slipped through the goalie's legs by Marty as a bounce ended up on his stick in the slot. Both Dennis and Greg had two assists on the night.

Again the Believers had a great team effort as all 13 players were involved in this entertaining ,yet intense affair.Matt played a great game covering miles with his smooth, accelerating strides.Doug Simpson showed flashes of brilliance as he turned the defencemen inside-out more than once. The defence of Scott,Ryan,Ed and Matt were fantastic, keeping the shots to a minimum.Sean Pogue was seeing the puck great tonight, making key saves at key times throughout the battle.

The B's team game is maturing more and more. Strong positional play ,short shifts,a good work ethic and selflessness was evident tonight. With these attributes in place, the team will have nothing but success !!

Game #3 vs The Oasis Church

A pre-game team meeting set the stage for the Believers finest team game in it's twenty game history.

Teamwork, positioning and a great work ethic made the 12-2 win possible.Eight different goal scorers, a stingy defence and solid net minding resulted in tonight's convincing win.

Dennis Nadon led the way with four goals, Greg Hollet and Matt Stark each added a pair, while Nathan, Bryan, Ed and Marty tallied one each.

An early 3-0 lead gave the team a cushion, and a great passing game continued throughout the night. During one powerplay the Believers kept the puck in the opponent's zone the whole 3-minutes until the mesh rippled. Even with the defence pinching all night, only two odd-man rushes were allowed. Ryan, Ed, Scott, and recently acquired Todd O'Brien played great heads-up hockey.

This team game displayed how dynamic this sport can be.

The Believers next outing is on Saturday, October 21, at 9:30 pm, in Lake Cowichan versus the CRC Kings. If the B's bring the same kind of commitment as they did tonight, success is inevitable.

GREAT GAME GUYS !!! Cap't Mart

Game #2 vs New Life Baptist

Tonight the Believers lost. The team game was non-existent,the shifts were way too long, individualism, lack of discipline, and poor positional play resulted in the teams first loss of the season.

The New Life team had 4 less players, teenagers and a female. They played a team game and deserved the 4-3 win.Sean Roberts played great and Sean Pogue kept the Believers in the game during a second period collapse.

On the bright side ,Ryan Hollett played great defensively, scoring twice and also defenceman Ed Busch shot a laser past the screened N.L. Goalie.Darrin Rae left the game early with an ankle injury. We hope this is only a slight sprain and he's back playing hop-scotch tomorrow.

Learning lessons early in the season can be very beneficial, especially in the team's tough sophmore season. The Believers next ice time is Sunday Oct 15 at 9:30 pm at Fuller Lake.Onwards and Upwards Team !!
